About the artwork
As part of a Royal College of Arts project with artist and tutor Joanne Tatham, a group of sculpture students were invited to propose editions to sell in House of Voltaire. The idea for Morelli's dickstops came after an evening with friends in a South London pub was heading to frivolity. Morelli declared enough was enough, we must put a stop to this dickerey and the dickstop was born. Serving as a comical gesture, with cynical undertones, these doorstops are the perfect home addition.
About the artist
Mila’s body of work is varied and spans different techniques, working in film, photography, fabric, object making, paint and performance. Some reoccurring themes explored in her work are; memory, nostalgia and philosophical enquiry. Mila’s interest in childhood rhetorics and notions of play in relation to art stems from investigations into how bodies, objects and environments are performing in the world; challenging relationships between artefact and artifice, authentic and fake, as well as playing with notions of scale. The act of casting a new gaze onto an object, be it that of a child, or a traveller or triggered by a change of proportions is central to her practice.
House of Voltaire commissions and sells unique artworks, limited edition prints and specially–commissioned homewares, objects, clothing and accessories by world–renowned contemporary artists and designers.
