About the artwork

A limited edition lambswool blanket by John Booth, exclusively for House of Voltaire. Each blanket is made in Scotland from 100% superfine lambswool using jacquard knit. This double–sided knitting style achieves a design–rich finish; the front of the blanket showcases the artist’s design, while a birdseye pattern, driven by the technique, is achieved on the underside. The blanket has a luxurious, heavyweight feel.

London–based artist, illustrator, ceramicist and textile designer John Booth is known for his graphic works featuring multi–layered collages of textures and colours. Booth draws inspiration from artists including Karel Appel and Betty Woodman as well as from retro children’s playgrounds and postmodern Italian designers.

This edition forms part of The Artist's Bedroom by John Booth for House of Voltaire at Matches Fashion, 5 Carlos Place Mayfair (6–17 November 2018).

For this special project, Booth has created an immersive installation of his dream teenage bedroom. Everything is available to purchase: from the unique hand–painted bed, ceramic side tables, and portrait vases, to the limited edition woollen floor rugs, printed cushion covers and mirrors–you can even buy the embroidered sweatshirt draped over the artists' chair. All sales support Studio Voltaire's innovative gallery and education programmes.
