About the Work
House of Voltaire is proud to introduce this limited edition candle produced by artist Ian Giles. Inspired by conversations with members of the Gay Liberation Front including Andrew Lumsden, Stuart Feather and Nettie Pollard, this candle evokes the scents and smells protestors recalled from their march on 1st July, 1972 from Trafalgar Square to Hyde Park.
About the artist
Ian Giles is a London based artist who graduated from the Slade School of Art. They have exhibited at a number of galleries including the MoMA PS1, New York and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, and will take part in an exhibition opening this summer 2022 at the Whitechapel Gallery, London.
