About the artwork
Artist and illustrator John Booth and ceramic artist Ian McIntrye present a playful new collection of unique works and special editions.
Supergroup was born out of Booth and McIntyre’s shared studio space in East London. The artists share an appreciation for accessible design, exploring traditional craft practices alongside exuberant decoration.
As part of their special presentation for the House of Voltaire presents series, the design duo have ventured into new territory exploring traditional craft glazes and techniques, such as slip trail, to produce a new ceramic series of stoneware snails. The series is a timed release with the edition size determined by the number sold during the presentation. Each object is unique in the series and hand-painted and glazed by the artists. Both the large and small stoneware editions have been fired at a higher temperature, resulting in a durable and vividly coloured object.
