New unique hand–painted stand by British artist Hayley Tompkins.

Known for her works that bridge painting and object–making, Topkins paintings and installations include everyday found objects. Here the artist has hand–painted ten stools. In her practice, the artist seeks to understand where objects belong in the world. She does this through an examination of the mimetic quality of paint and painting. For Tompkins, the act of painting is a process of thinking and exploring rather than simply a means to an end. Somewhere between the pictorial and the physical, Tompkins’ work attempts to find new ways of challenging and exploring paint’s transformative possibilities.

Hayley Tompkins (b. 1971, Leighton, Buzzard) lives and works in Glasgow.
