About the artwork
A series of unique ceramic sculptures from Australian craftsperson Alana Wilson. Each ceramic features technical layering of local sand slips, oxide washes and stoneware glazes push the limits of the materials, resulting in surfaces that highlight the compositional changes undergone in the firing – the moment between order and disorder, completion and destruction.
About the artist
Alana Wilson's work explores both primitive and contemporary aesthetics and techniques in order to embrace elements of texture and a calm tonality.
Alana Wilson (b.1989 Canberra, Australia) is a ceramicist. Recent solo exhibitions include Conditional Archaeology, Mr Kitly, Melbourne (2015); Compositions (for L.A), Jasmin Shokrian Atelier, Los Angeles (2015): Ode/Pavillion II, Brach 3D, Sydney (2015); Ode/Pavillion II, China Clay, Sydney (2015); Ode/Pavillion II, Brach 3D, Sydney (2014); Lux, Sabbia Gallery, Sydney (2014).
Studio Voltaire has been supporting artists for over twenty years, through our renowned programme of exhibitions, performances, events and education projects as well as providing affordable studios.
