About the artist
Alexandra Bircken (b.1967 Cologne, DE) currently lives and works in Cologne. Recent solo exhibitions include Parallelgesellschaften, K21 Ständehaus, Düsseldorf (2016); Stretch, Kunstverein Hannover, Hannover (2016); Needle, Herald St, London, UK (2016); Cagey, Piece*Unique, Cologne (2015); Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam, NL (2014); The Hepworth Wakefield, UK (2014); Kunstverein Hamburg, Germany (2012) and Bonner Kunstverein, Germany (2012) Kimmerich Gallery, New York (2011); Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne (2o1o); Stedelijk Museum CS in Amsterdam (2008) and Gladstone Gallery in New York (2007), with forthcoming solo presentations at Kunstverein Hamburg, Hamberg and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam (both 2012). She has participated in numerous group exhibitions including Kettles Yard, Cambridge (2010), Barbican Art Gallery, London (2008), New Museum, New York (2007) and White Columns, New York (2005). The artist is represented by Herald St, London, BQ, Berlin and Kimmerich Gallery, New York.

The gallery also provides an important UK platform for international artists, often providing them their first-ever presentation in the UK. These have included Nairy Baghramian, Thea Djordjadze, Nicole Eisenman, Judith Hopf, Paulina Olowska and Henrik Olesen.
