About The Artwork
Predominately working on a small scale, Andrew Kerr’s paintings often appear to have early-20th Century look: a mix of surrealism and decorative painting. “They rest between abstraction and figuration; where they lie on that spectrum, if it is such a definite spectrum, is in doubt. I sift through these heaps, either to have another go at a painting or to find, more by accident, paintings that loosely correspond or suggestively clash.” This painting is typical of the artist’s collages where paintings are simply cropped and glued together or painted anew.
