About the edition

Made from 100% superfine lambswool in a Jacquard knit technique. This double-sided knitting style achieves a design rich finish. The front face of the blanket showcases the artist’s design, whilst a birds-eye pattern, driven by the knitting style is achieved on the underside. The blanket has a noticeably soft handle and luxurious heavyweight feel, perfect for those cold winter nights.

About the artist

Michael Craig–Martin (b. 1941 in Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish-born painter and conceptual artist, who is attributed with fostering the Young British Artist movement. Taking from Pop Art’s exploration of commodities and the anthropomorphic qualities of goods, Craig-Martin’s acrylic paintings take mass-produced objects from the consumerist age as subject matter, depicting these quotidian items in graphical lurid colours and outlined in black line drawing.

Selected solo exhibitions include Gagosian, Britannia Street, London (2019); All in All. Hyundai Gallery, Seoul, South Korea (2016); Transience. Serpentine Gallery, London (2015); NOW, Shanghai Himalayas Museum, Shanghai, China (2015); Michael Craig–Martin at Chatsworth, Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, UK (2014), Less Is Still More, Museum Haus Esters, Krefeld, Germany (2013); Michael Craig-Martin. New Painting and Sculpture, Roche Court, Wiltshire, UK (2011), Signs of Life, Kunsthaus Bregenz, Germany (2006); and Works 1964–2006, IMMA, Dublin, Ireland 2006); Haus der Kunst, Munich, Germany, 2000; fig-2, ICA, London, UK (2000) and A retrospective 1968–1989, Whitechapel Art Gallery, London, UK (1989).

Craig-Martin is represented by Alan Cristea Gallery, London and Gagosian Gallery, New York. He was appointed a CBE in 2001 and elected a Royal Academician in 2006.
