About the artist

Sol Calero (b. 1982, Caracas, Venezuela) lives and works in Berlin. Recent solo exhibitions include: Agencia Viajes Paraíso, Kunstpalais Erlangen, Erlangen (2017); Interiores, Dortmunder Kunstverein, Dortmunder (2017); La Sauna Caliente, Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria (2016); Solo Pintura, Laura Bartlett Gallery, London (2016): Casa de Cambio, Art Basel Statements, Basel (2016); Desde el Jardin, David Dale Gallery, Glasgow (2016). Sala Mendoza, Caracas (2015), SALTS, Birsfelden (2015), Gillmeier Rech, Berlin (2014); Laura Bartlett Gallery, London (2014); Frutta Gallery, Rome (2013). Calero is represented by Laura Bartlett Gallery, London. She is co-director of the Berlin project space Kinderhook & Caracas.

Studio Voltaire has been supporting artists for over twenty years, through our renowned programme of exhibitions, performances, events and education projects as well as providing affordable studios.

We have gained a reputation for championing both emerging and underrepresented artistic practices, often at key stage in the artist’s career. The gallery also provides an important UK platform for international artists, often providing them their first-ever presentation in the UK. These have included Nairy Baghramian, Thea Djordjadze, Nicole Eisenman, Judith Hopf, Paulina Olowska and Henrik Olesen.
