About the artists

Troika is a collaborative contemporary art practice formed by Eva Rucki (b. 1976, Germany), Conny Freyer (b. 1976, Germany) and Sebastien Noel (b. 1977, France) in 2003. With a particular interest in perception and spatial experience, their collective works challenge our prescriptions of knowledge, control, and what it means to be human in an age of technology. Recent solo exhibitions include: Everything is and isn't at the same time Galerie Huit, Hong Kong (2016); Limits of a known territory NC Arte, Bogotá (2015); Cartography of Control Kohn Gallery, Los Angeles (2015); Persistent Illusions Daelim Museum, Seoul (2014); The Weather Yesterday HCFA Gallery, London (2013); The Far Side of Reason OMR Gallery, Mexico City (2013). Troika is represented by Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles and OMR in Mexico City.

Studio Voltaire has been supporting artists for over twenty years, through our renowned programme of exhibitions, performances, events and education projects as well as providing affordable studios.

We have gained a reputation for championing both emerging and underrepresented artistic practices, often at key stage in the artist’s career. These have included Marvin Gaye Chetwynd, Phyllida Barlow, Ruth Ewan, Elizabeth Price, Jo Spence, Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan, Richard Slee and Cathy Wilkes.

The gallery also provides an important UK platform for international artists, often providing them their first-ever presentation in the UK. These have included Nairy Baghramian, Thea Djordjadze, Nicole Eisenman, Judith Hopf, Paulina Olowska and Henrik Olesen.
