About The Artwork
This hand-squined bodega bag by Ashish is an homage to Beryl Cook’s love of leopard print. Fashion designer Ashish took direct inspiration from Cook’s ‘By The Clyde’ (1992), where a woman in a striking Leopard print coat is walking her dog along the Clyde river and carrying her shopping in a plastic bag. Applying his signature sequin artistry, Ashish reimagines the ubiquitous single-use plastic bag as a glittering, handcrafted masterpiece. Rendered in a rich leopard-print motif, each piece is individually hand-sequined by master craftspeople in India.
