About The Artwork
Dubbing themselves the ‘conscience of the art world’, in 1985 the Guerrilla Girls began a poster campaign that targeted museums, dealers, curators, critics and artists who they felt were actively responsible for, or complicit in, the exclusion of women and non-white artists from mainstream exhibitions and publications.
About The Guerrilla Girls
The Guerrilla Girls are a group of anonymous artist-activists known for their public and institutional protests against sexism, racism, and wealth inequality within arts and culture. Their work is powered by a core belief in intersectional feminism, fighting for the rights of all people. They have protested, performed, taught, and exhibited internationally, working with institutions such as Tate Modern, London; Museum of Modern Art, New York City; Fotomuseum Winterthur, Zurich; Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Barcelona; ARTNIGHT, London; and La Biennale di Venezia, Venice.
