House of Voltaire presents the Erratics Edition III, 2023: a pair of abstract ceramic plaques. The plaque on the left displays a modern blue geometric pattern on a black rectangular surface, while the one on the right, inspired by Lubna Chowdhary's design, features interlocking red circles adorned with blue speckles on a curved rectangular shape.
Two decorative pieces on a wooden surface against a green wall. The left piece, "Erratics Edition III, 2023" from House of Voltaire, is a black frame with a geometric blue and black pattern. The right piece showcases intertwined red and blue loops with a speckled design reminiscent of Lubna Chowdhary's vibrant ceramic works.

    About The Artwork

Lubna Chowdhary is highly acclaimed for her ceramic works, which subvert the traditional context and utility of the medium to address a longstanding preoccupation with urbanisation and material culture. Her sculptural practice has evolved from a sustained fascination with the fusion of binary cultural and artistic influences. Chowdhary’s edition for House of Voltaire takes the form of two richly glazed ceramic pieces which are intended to be displayed together, propped up side by side or overlapping. The title, Erratics, refers to large rocks or boulders that have been displaced from their original geological context through glacial flows. While retaining their material integrity, they are permanently settled in a new, alien context. These colourful and exquisitely executed works are sold in a special presentation box. Sales of this edition support Studio Voltaire’s artistic and public programmes. The artist has a studio within the organisation’s community of 61 onsite artists.
