A collage of photos depicting a cityscape and a tall building seen through horizontal blinds, with the building's silhouette and urban scenes captured under different lighting conditions, creates a layered, abstract effect akin to "And It Reads - (Classical Order), 2016" by House of Voltaire.

    About The Artwork

Nick Relph’s photography, sculpture, installation and video draw diversely upon popular culture, referencing images from advertising, fashion, music and art. His layered works often involve both digital and analogue media as images are reprocessed from one format to another, occasionally dissolving into abstraction. Here, the artist has collaged multiple views looking out of the window of his therapists' office.

    About Nick Relph

Nick Relph (b. 1979; London, United Kingdom) lives and works in New York City. Working in a variety of mediums, Relph’s work draws from popular culture, often incorporating images and symbols which have been removed from their everyday contexts. Much of the artist’s recent works were made using a portable VuPoint Magic Wand digital scanner. As Relph walks the streets of New York, he extracts and archives streetscapes and buildings from the city. Relph’s images are then reprocessed until they reach their final glitch-like state, often presenting a city which is simultaneously nostalgic and futuristic.

Relph graduated from Kingston University of London in 2000, following which he has been part of numerous exhibitions within the UK and internationally. Solo exhibitions include Gordon Robichaux, New York; Herald St, London; Le Consortium, Dijon, France; Bonner Kunstverein, Germany; Gavin Brown’s Enterprise, New York; Chisenhale, London,; Overduin and Kite, Los Angeles; Standard, Oslo; and Frieze Projects, Frieze Art Fair, London.

Nick Relph is represented by Herald St, London.
