About The Artwork
Picturing an anomalous, vibrantly coloured structure, the edition is based on a drawing by the artist, who often described sculptures as "dumb and silent and still". The same could be said for a street barrier, which Barlow frequently referenced in her sculptural installations and works on paper. This work shows a marked change in the barrier, now on tall stilts and surrounded by an elusive shadow, with composition and permanence all of its own.
