About The Artwork

STRUCK is a 1:1 representation of an original work painted by Jones specifically for this edition, which was created with her signature tools of oil sticks and oil pastels. STRUCK features one of Jones’ recurring motifs: the mouth, playfully exploring how our emotions are reflected back to us through our real-world experiences and environments. Each edition is printed on canvas and hand-finished with thick impasto, carefully layered to mirror the texture and energy of the original painting. This process preserves the physicality and momentum that define Jones’ practice. Each work is mounted on bespoke-cut aluminium backing, ready to hang

About Rachel Jones

Renowned for her striking use of colour, blending of abstract and figurative motifs and distinctive technique, Rachel Jones (b. 1991) pushes the boundaries of painting, and, more recently, sound, installation and performance works. Primarily working with oil sticks and oil pastels, Jones layers abstraction with figurative motifs in her expressive paintings, which often include mouths and teeth, to explore selfhood and the Black experience.

Jones has exhibited widely with galleries and institutions, including Dulwich Picture Gallery, Hayward Gallery, The Hepworth Wakefield, The Sunday Painter, The Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture, Chisenhale Gallery, The Courtauld Gallery and Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac. Her works are in many permanent collections, including Tate, The Hepworth Wakefield, Arts Council Collection, Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Jones is a Trustee of Studio Voltaire.
