Thea Djordjadze's paintings are exemplary of her physiological practice, which concerns itself with the poetics and particularities of space as well as the natural inclinations of her varied materials. These works are formed from plaster, with pigment incorporated into and onto their porous surfaces, and the gestures, traces and indentations that result from this process give the works a distinctly anthropomorphic, embodied quality. Clearly abstract, works such as this untitled painting nevertheless invoke the artist's presence and memory with their corporeal, sweeping movements and fields of lush, evocative colours.
